i made up the word attractious. bc thats what i had written on my tiny green flashcard corresponding to the word meretricious. which is attracting attention, not attractious or whatever the fuck i was thinking. i got angry with my english teacher. bc she writes "metaphor?" when i write "nick metaphorically compares his life to a road and the inchoate decade to ..... etc etc" damnstraight. and i know the fucking meaning of grotesque. which is bizzare and fantastical, not gross. but i think i killing spree is both gross and fantastical, and since im asked to describe wilson's actions, yeah. i was forced to define the thing as grotesque and i do & get taken points off.

it makes me sick to get below a 95 in that class.

claywell & dan got their tests back in math & wanted to know desperately to know what i got. claywell always writes me these little things on pieces of paper like when i asked him randomly (our conversations are based on a series of quickly mumbled questions and answers) if he had had cancer and wrote me you had cancer didnt you. today he wrote, what did you get?! tell me! and i wrote id prefer not to.

i like the word obscure. i am going to find an obscure theme in gatsby instead of writing about the fucking american dream and green light. i wanted to write about the green light in the first place but now id rather not. prefer not to, actually.

a few days ago i asked my amazing english teacher from last yr if he was planning to teach junior english next yr & he said of course, that it was his baby. and then as he was leaving the room he said maybe ill get you again and i said i hope so.
